Bridge Project -- ORAAPT 2005 Workshop

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS
Tevian Dray & Corinne A. Manogue

The key to bridging the gap between mathematics and physics is geometric reasoning. This minicourse will introduce participants to the art of teaching geometric reasoning, emphasizing vectors and vector calculus. Participants will use and discuss open-ended group activities intended to foster geometric reasoning, which have been developed as part of the NSF-funded Vector Calculus Bridge project at Oregon State University.
